Distribution service for location information products for Finnish Defence Forces
TietoSaab Systems is implementing for the Finnish Defence Forces a distribution service for location information products, which will enable users to search for and order up-to-date map and location information products from a datastore. Partner in the project is Karttakone Oy, which is responsible for loading the location information products in the datastore. It is aimed to have the service available in summer 2007.
In 2004 the Defence Forces decided that new control systems would utilise ESRI's location information technology, and the introduction of this technology also makes it possible to develop the distribution of location information. The distribution service is being built on top of ESRI's location information technology, taking into account the requirements of the new integrated intelligence, surveillance, control and command system (ITVJ2010). When it is ready, the distribution service for location information products will be the first service implemented in the ITVJ2010 control system based on service oriented architecture (SOA).

Valio uses Karttakone's map data in transportation planning
Valio has extended use of Karttakone's map data for milk transportation planning. Earlier Valio had used Karttakone's maps for dairy product transportation planning.
Map data includes several scales from whole Finland, covering e.g. all streets, roads and buildings, which is a remarkable benefit when planning optimal routes.
Valio uses fleet management system TE-TPS (ProOpt) by TietoEnator. Karttakone's map data are integrated to TE-TPS.

MapInfo supported by Karttakone's Online Services
Karttakone provides MapInfo community with an online access to major geographic vector databases.
Users can connect to Navteq's European wide databases or Finnish topographic database online, directly from MapInfo desktop. Complete vector datasets with all attributes - whenever, wherever, always up-to-date.

Karttakone becomes NAVTEQ data reseller
Karttakone Oy (www.karttakone.fi) and NAVTEQ Europe B.V. (www.navteq.com) have signed a partnership agreement under which Karttakone becomes a data reseller for NAVTEQ. The agreement covers all of Europe.
Through the partnership, Karttakone has the capability to provide original NAVTEQ vector data and derived raster maps for all of Europe. Data can be delivered either via Karttakone's Online Services, as offline delivery or as Media Maps.

Karttakone releases map series for all Nordic Countries
Karttakone has produced map series covering all Nordic Countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden) that can be used as background maps in GIS-applications, in www-services, through Online Services, or as Media Maps e.g. in newspapers.
The cartographically high quality datasets are based on Navteq data and for instance, include all roads with their names for all of the Nordic Countries. The series are produced in 1:35 000 and 1:250 000 scales.
The data products are delivered in tiff-raster format, as pdf-vector files or through Online services directly from the Karttakone server.

Digita has launched a new public web map service
Digita, the leading distributor of radio and television services in Finland, has launched a new public web map service (www.digita.fi/karttapalvelu) that shows the coverage of tv and radio in Finland.
The new service has been designed by Digita Oy and TietoEnator Digital Innovations Oy. Map service is provided by Karttakone Oy and it has been integrated to Digita's services by TietoEnator Digital Innovations Oy.

Elisa Oyj chose Karttakone map data
Elisa Oyj has acquired Karttakone's nationwide Raster map series for their network information system. Maps are used in telecommunication network planning and maintenance applications. Elisa has already used Karttakone's maps in their web services but now the use has been extended to internal operations.
Map data contains several scales and includes accurately all urban areas in Finland which is a remarkable benefit for Elisa's applications.
Maps have been integrated to Elisa s application by Centroid Sito Oy.

Telia Sonera Finland Oyj has chosen Karttakone Urban Area maps for extensive operative use. Urban Area map is the most detailed nationwide map product, covering e.g. all buildings and traffic network from whole Finland. Telia Sonera Finland Oyj utilizes the data in the network operator business.
